Donate

No charge is made to visitors, but we would simply remind all those that do visit that the annual maintenance costs and the costs involved in keeping the church open are substantial, and we appeal for your support.

There are two donations boxes set in the wall of the foyer of the church: one is near the St Andrew’s Hill entrance amongst the leaflets and postcards; the other is set below the noticeboard beside the chapel door. There is also a donations box set in the wall to the east of the main gate along Queen Victoria Street.

Cheques should be made payable to: St Andrew-by-the-Wardrobe PCC”.

The Friends of St Andrew-by-the-Wardrobe was launched in 2006 and is an important part of the life of the church. There are many benefits to becoming a Friend, not least the knowledge that you will be actively supporting the maintenance and upkeep of this historic building. Friends will go on the mailing list so that they will know about events happening at the church. Further information can be found in the Friends application form.

Directions

The church has two main doors, making it accessible from both St Andrew's Hill and Queen Victoria Street.

The church is situated on the east side of St Andrew's Hill. From Ludgate Hill turn south down Creed Lane (two short blocks from the front of St Paul's Cathedral). At the bottom of Creed Lane turn left into Carter Lane and immediately turn right into St Andrew's Hill. The church is situated 50 yards along the road and up the steps beside the Pub & Eating House and across the road from the Cockpit pub.

Approaching along Queen Victoria Street, the church is situated on the north side of the road, halfway between the Millennium and Blackfriars bridges. The church is set up on a hill with a sloping garden in front, wrought iron gates and a flight of steps. When approaching from along Queen Victoria Street: in order to enter the church via the north door on St Andrew's Hill where there are less steps, walk up the southern section of St Andrew's Hill from Queen Victoria Street to the Pub & Eating House, behind which the church is situated.

The church is served by bus Nos. 4, 11, 15, 17, 23, 26, 76, 100 & 172 along Ludgate Hill and No. 388 along Queen Victoria Street. The nearest underground stations are St Paul's and Mansion House (Blackfriars is expected to reopen in March 2012). Blackfriars mainline and City Thameslink stations are close by.
