DIOCESAN LENT APPEAL 2012

Help raise £60,000 for ALMA’s “Giving Ministry Wheels” appeal

The 2012 Diocesan Lent Appeal is dedicated to ALMA (The Angola London Mozambique Association) in the London Challenge 2012 initiative. It will focus on equipping our partner churches in Angola and Mozambique by raising £60,000 to help fund a good quality second hand vehicle for Angola, Lebombo (southern Mozambique) and Niassa (northern Mozambique). Their dioceses are huge: Angola is five times the size of the entire UK and each Mozambican diocese is 1.5 times the size of the UK. Each diocese has two or three vehicles but at the end of their useful lives, so our final Lent Appeal of London Challenge 2012 will be: Giving Ministry Wheels.

Jill Holmes, Administrator for St Andrew-by-the-Wardrobe and St James Garlickhythe, is the ALMA representative for St Andrew-by-the-Wardrobe. There are plans to twin St Andrew-by-the-Wardrobe with a parish in Mozambique, possibly the area of All Saints Nhamatanda.

ALMA supports children and schools; theological training; link officers; community and church development; skills-share; poverty reduction; and parish twinning.

The Angola London Mozambique Association would be very grateful for donations of up-to-date mobile phones (with chargers) that are no longer required, and also vestments and choir robes. Please contact Jill Holmes – administrator@standrewbythewardrobe

 The Lord’s Prayer in Portuguese

(the official language and the lingua franca of Angola and Mozambique)

 In Portuguese ALMA means SOUL

The soul of our partnership is a commitment to mutual support in prayer and worship, in ministry and mission.
